I wrote this a little while ago and at the time it didn't feel right to post. I think I will now. It's odd to read something that you wrote a while ago.

My friend was in a car accident. She was driving. They weren't supposed to survive, but they did. The thing that chills me the most about this entire episode is that just a couple of weeks ago I met her Mum. A couple of us were having an 'anti-deb' party and her Mum had come to pick her up. They were so happy, everything was fine, normal. Then this happened. It just reminds me how unpredictable everything is, how fragile our existence is. How one day we are flying with exhilaration and joy, the next we're tumbling down a cliff, hitting every jagged rock possible.
*Her photos are here.

The year 12's just finished their QCS (Queensland Core Skills). That's me next year. I don't want time to slow down, I just don't want to forget anything. I don't want to forget the feeling when our stage band sounds amazing, and I get goosebumps just thinking how we're all together in this. Or when I've had a bad day and I can just go to Duck and Miss B. and tell them it's a bad day and they don't ask questions. They just let me be sad. I don't want to forget laughing with Hippy in choir over the stupidest things. I don't want to forget the connected feeling I have with my house peers. I don't want to forget the kids on my bus running up to me and saying a gazillion words a minute about their day. I don't want to forget what it feels like to belong somewhere, and to know people have your back.

  1. I'm really sorry about your friend :(
I'm the exact opposite when it comes to that...I can't wait to graduaate, move on, and get out of my town. I need a hint of new in my life, and I feel like I don't belong here.

  2. I gave you an award! I hope your holidays are going great :)

♥ i'm REALLY slow on replying, so if i haven't in a few days. please. please. please. don't take offense.
