Aaw wow :)

I'm a vegetarian. I've been a vegetarian for about a week and a bit now. And the reason I switched is because I couldn't believe that I was eating something that was once living and breathing, don't worry I'm not going to go all 'DON'T EAT MEAT!!' on you. But for me, just smelling meat makes me feel a bit queasy.
But thats not the issue, the issue is the green triangle. Protein. So this where all you fellow vegetarians and anyone else who just likes protein come in. I know that nuts, cheese, soy products and all that are good sources of protein. But I was wondering if any of you have any AH-MAZING recipes that include high
amounts of protein. Help???

Just some pictures I plan to live by for the next year. Cause even though it's the longest thing we do, life is still short.

Gee I just I love cliche phrases, don't you?

I have updated my Flickr account and I would really, really love some criticism please.

  1. Good luck with being a vegetarian:). I dont think I could ever fully convert, but maybe I could try not eating meat every few days a week.

I think mushrooms are good sources of protein. Good luck with finding something:)

Such beautiful images, really make me want to do something different this year.

Thankyou for your comment! Hope you had a wonderful Christmas and New Years too.

  3. Oh, well done and good luck on being a veggie - I really admire you. I don't think that I feel strongly enough about the issue to convert fully..but well done you, anyways ♥

  4. I am also a vegetarian. I have been for about 7 months now and going strong. But, I do have to have the occasional fish in order to maintain enough zinc, protein and iron intake, that was sort of an agreement that me and my mother made as a compromise when I began to stop eating meat.
I would say that if eating out, go to Taco Bell or get a grilled cheese at Sonic, or try to find a good salad somewhere, because it can be a challenge to find good takeout food. Except, of course Chinese food (veggie dumplings, veggie lo mein..)
A really good food is chili, we simply replaced the meat with soy crumbles, which you can find at your local grocery store, and it is soooo good. Also, stir fry is a delicious option because you can add whatever you please. Um, eggs is a good source of protein. Mac and Cheese is a good quick and easy lunch. And if you like salads (I LOVE them) then add corn and beans to it to get more out of it.
Most importantly, don't let those people who will try to get you to eat meat, or constantly question it get you down. By not eating meat you are taking a stand that others could not make against animal cruelty, never let anyone stop you from doing so.
    Good luck! Xoxo.

  5. Ah I am not a vegetarian but my diet is 2 parts veggies to one part meat. My favorite non-meat protein food is tofu. Tofu is amazing and there are so many different varieties: firm, silken, frozen, fried, etc.

If you haven't eaten tofu, you might think the texture is gross, but other than that - tofu doesn't really have any flavor so it can't TASTE gross (unless it is bad quality).

A lot of people eat tofu the wrong way though. One way is to take raw tofu, wash it, add soy sauce, sesame oil and some spring onions. Another way is to put it in a really clean broth: tofu + tomatoes + soup + green onions. It is really light and fresh.

Beans are of course good, but I don't eat beans generally. My friend who is a vegetarian just incorporates tofu, beans, nuts, and cheese daily into her diet. She doesn't necessarily have a super high protein dish.

  9. Currently, I am on a detox and eating mainly vegan and vegetarian. I went veg for 30 days for Veg month. It can be a challenge to get protein but avocado, some lettuces and beans/legumes have loads of it.check out whole living (dot) com recipes section. I have found a lot of good stuff there. there are also a lot of good vegan/veg blogs that share recipes. Good luck.
